A short presentation
Aurskog-Høland is a municipality located in the east of Akershus county.
It borders on Sweden - and thus on the EU - to the east, on Hedmark county to the north, and on Østfold county to the south. To the west lie the municipalities of Fet and Sørum.
Agriculture and forestry have a prominent place in Aurskog-Høland, but today the local economy is characterised by its diversity, with a wide range of manufacturing businesses, service industries etc.
There are several small towns and villages: Aurskog, Bjørkelangen, Setskog, Fosser, Løken, Momoen and Hemnes. The administrative centre of the municipality is Bjørkelangen. Here you find not only the town hall, but also excellent shopping and service facilities, and two upper secondary schools.
One of Aurskog-Høland's main assets is its location, being close to Lillestrøm and to Oslo, and to Oslo Gardermoen airport. Moreover the towns of Charlottenberg and Årjäng in Sweden are not far away. There is a good bus service from Bjrørkelangen and Aurskog to Lillestrøm, with easy rail or bus connections to Oslo. There are also bus services to Lillestrøm from other parts of the municipality, but these are less frequent.
The municipality offers a safe and healthy environment for children and young people to grow up in. There are plenty of clubs and organisations for young people, both for sports and for a whole range of other activities. Our vast areas of unspoilt nature – with forest, lakes and rivers - make Aurskog-Høland a wonderland for outdoor pursuits of various kinds, including hunting and fishing.
