Living in Aurskog-Høland
Aurskog-Høland is a municipality that is currently experiencing a period of growth. In recent years the population has steadily increased, and new businesses have moved in.
Our kindergardens can offer places to all children who are under school age. These kindergardens – some public, some private - are spread around the municipality. We have seven primary (1st-7th grade) and lower secondary (8th – 10th grade) schools – three of these are combined schools, offering both primary and lower secondary education (1st – 10th grades in one school). All seven schools run optional after-school activity programmes (SFO). There are also, as noted above, two upper secondary schools.
For older citizens, there are three nursing homes in the municipality, in Aurskog, Bjørkelangen and Hemnes. They are integrated in the municipality's district nursing services.
In Bjørkelangen and Løken there are special accommodation facilities and services for people with disabilities. In addition, there are special housing facilities for younger people with disabilities. We also have special services offering psychiatric and rehabilitation help.
Everyone living here can enjoy the unspoilt countryside we have on our doorstep, ideally suited to all sorts of outdoor activities, whatever the season. We also have a slalom hill, a golf course and a fully-equipped athletics track.
There is a flourishing cultural life, with countless clubs and associations.
