Tourism in Aurskog-Høland
Aurskog-Høland has more to offer than just its unspoilt nature.
A trip round our municipality will quickly show you that there are lots of pleasant places where you can stop and find plenty to see, both buildings and other places of cultural interest, and beauty spots. There are also places where you can have a meal or find overnight accommodation.
We are especially proud of our local museum Aurskog-Høland “Bygdetun” in Hemnes - a collection of historic buildings gathered in one place and showing many aspects of local traditional life, and Urskog Fort, a hilltop fortress built in 1901-03 to protect this part of Norway from a possible Swedish attack. Also well worth a visit is "Aur Prestegård" in Aurskog. This is a restored vicarage, with two residential houses, one from the early 18th century, and several outbuildings. They are all used for various cultural activities. These three places attract visitors from near and far.
